Sigh. The Mock Turtle captures our immediate attention in the Four of Cups. His depth of despair over his lost cups is plain to see. What isn’t told is how he came to this sadness, for it is not the starting point that matters here, but that he is so focused on what he doesn’t have he cannot see what is being offered him.

Are you the Mock Turtle, comfortable in your misery, unwilling to look around at what might be a new path? What you seek may not be right in front of you but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

Allow yourself to feel the sadness and despair, allow it to wash over and out of you, carried away in the cups that are out of your hands, and then raise your eyes to see what is contained in the cup being offered to you.
